Bought new Android phone, and after exploring all its features and understanding everything that the device offers you suddenly realized that there are certain manufacturer-imposed limitations which obstructs you from having full control over your phone. Now you start searching the web and come across the term “rooting.” Now you become curious and by doing a bit more research you get to know ‘the miracles’ of rooting. Rooting allows you to unleash the true power that your device possesses and you become the Super User. But the grass is always not greener on the other side. There is always another side of the coin and one should look at that also. First let’s just get a brief idea what actually rooting is.

What is Rooting?

Basically, Rooting is a process which lets you conquer the limitations that the manufacturer of the device has imposed upon it by unlocking the Android device. These limitations are imposed to the casual user from causing permanent damage to the operating system and thus rendering it unusable. “Rooting” is the process in which the limitations are removed and full-access is allowed. Rooting allows the Android phone owner to have more control over many settings, features and performance of their phone.

But there is a darker side to rooting and it is only for the people who are brave at heart.

The harms that rooting can do to your Android Phone:

  • Rooting immediately voids your phone’s warranty. So once rooted, you can’t get your phone back for service or warranty work.
  • If rooting is not done properly then it can cause your phone to function abnormally.
  • There is also a risk of bricking your phone. The phone is dead when it has been “bricked” i.e it is rendered useless.
  • After rooting your phone is unentitled to receiving OS updates through OTA. So you will have to look out for valid sources for updates on your own.
  • Rooting means you will be getting and requiring constant updates.
  • Rooting may make your phone perform faster but with the disadvantage that it sometimes runs too hot thus overheating your device.
  • There are many cases in which users have found that, in their attempts to speed up the phone or add additional features, their phones lost both performance speed and features.
  • Generally people having “rooted” phones flash their ROM’s with custom programs. Whenever you make changes to the code of software, you are at a risk of introducing a virus.

 

 

Download Android OS 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM for Samsung Galaxy S3 | Upgrade Steps

Do you  own the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3, then  this is certainly going to be a great news for you people that an unofficial ROM of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been released for the best Android-powered Samsung smartphone-Galaxy S3. This new version of Google’s Android operating system – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is faster, has a cleaner home screen, a new camera app and much better notifications. The search experience in Jelly Bean has a new look-and-feel, and has faster and more natural Voice Search.

As per Google, it has been stated that Jelly Bean will arrive for Galaxy S3 and S2 in mid-July of this year. Still, if you can’t wait for its official arrival, then you can use this unofficial Jelly Bean ROM.  This unofficial ROM was released out from the preview build of this firmware. Being just a preview version of Jelly, a lot of functions and features are not working in this ROM.

NOTE: - Works only with the international edition of Galaxy S3 i.e. GT-I9300. So if you are using any other variant of this smart phone, then don’t ever try to install this firmware.

This ROM uses a modified CM9 (CyanogenMod 9) kernel which makes this firmware more resourceful and as for what’s working and what’s not, here’s a list of those features.

Requirements:-

  • A rooted Android device. If you haven’t, then you need to root your device.
  • ClockworkMod recovery installed on your device.
  • Download Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Note: Please backup all your data, application and original ROM because this ROM can NOT be your daily driver.

Instructions:-

Step 1: Download Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for Galaxy S3. Then put into Galaxy S3 external SD Card.

Step 2: Power off your Galaxy S3.

Step 3: Press Galaxy S3 Volume Up Button + Power Button +Home Button until boot into CWM Recovery Mode.

Step 4: Select wipe data/factory reset, then select ‘Yes’ to confirm.

Step 5:  After wipe data/factory reset process is complete. Select “install zip” from SD Card and select “choose zip” from SD Card.

Select “Yes – Install Android-4.1-JellyBean-GNex-OTA-Port”. The installation process is start now.

Step 6: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will completely flash into your Galaxy s3 within 3 minutes. Reboot your galaxy S3 once the installation Complete. That’s All!

And now get ready to use your Galaxy S3 with jelly bean!!

Annoyed of Ads on Android?? Stop the Invasion of Ads on Android

As the popularity of Android is growing, so is its attractiveness to advertisers. And so ads are arriving on Android phones, inside games and apps, in mobile browser and even as push notifications. These ads sometimes make using apps almost unbearable.

Are you tired of these annoying ads popping up in apps on your Android phones?  Are you sick of giant ads taking up the valuable space on your mobile phone screen? If yes, then you need not to worry anymore. This article will help you in removing ads from your android apps.

For Rooted Devices:

  • To block ads from Android Apps AdAway is a tailor-fit app. From here you can Download and Install AdAway
  • After installing this app, open it. As you are running it for the first time it prompts you to download some external files and enable ad blocking. 
  • You just need to click on the required option.
  • It will automatically download the required files and tweaks your Android Device to block the ads.
  • After the download process is complete, you need to restart your Android Device and now relax and enjoy your Ad-Free Apps.

Another option is to use AdFree.

Just like AdAway, this app also requires root access. Adfree not only blocks ads in your apps but also in the browsers.

For those mobile devices that are not rooted one need to give mobile browsers a try in order to get rid of these pesky ads. If you are using Firefox in your Android then things become simple –all you need to do is to just install a plugin called the “Ad Block Plus” to block all the ads which are shown in the phone.

Of course, as only a few browsers currently support the blocking of ads, unrooted phones will not have nearly as many choices when it comes to removing ads.

Push Notifications:

Annoyed at the ads clogging your notification bar? Blocking ads that arrive via push notification is more of a challenge if your android device is not rooted. Still, you do have a few options. The best one is to avoid any applications that allow such ads in. This may sound a bit obvious and not much helpful, but really ‘something is better than nothing’. You should read the fine print, including user reviews, before installing any apps to your Android phone.

If such an app is already on your phone, but you’re not sure which one it is, try an app such as AirPush Detector or Addons Detector, each of which can find ad-friendly apps residing in your phone.

Messages are delivered from ad networks and mobile-marketing firms, such as AirPush, Appenda, LeadBolt, and Moolah Media. These firms also allow you to opt out of their offerings. For example, AirPush provides a Permanent Opt-out app. Appenda’s site also features a Global Opt-Out Form, and also LeadBolt’s site lets you opt out of its services.
